Assignment
Your assignment this week is to build your own custom brushes and use them in a new illustration. Building on what we looked at in class (and discussed a little last semester), you will be making and sharing 4 brushes as part of this project.
The subject matter is up to you. I trust that it will be amazing!
Output
- One standard/working resolution Photoshop file containing your layered composition working file, sketches, or production parts.
- One flat compressed version of your illustration that you created above.
- Four custom brushes with a name that contains your name. See below for instructions.
- One demo "spec" file that shows your custom brushes (with title), here is an example.
Note
- You can make custom brushes/illustration for Photoshop, Illustrator, Fresco, or Procreate. You will be sharing the brush files via a shared Adobe Library (preferred) or Google Drive link.
Process
- Figure out your illustration plan and what 4 brushes you will need. Inversely, you could invent 4 fantastic brushes and figure out the illustration part.
Project Delivery
- One LAYERED Photoshop/Illustrator/Fresco file of your working resolution illustration and sketches if you have them.
- One demo "spec" file that shows your custom brushes (with title), here is an example.
- Google drive folder: svaMFAI_20220117-brush-making-illustration-assignment
- Give your brush file/preset a fancy name (that includes your name) and add it to the shared Adobe Library:
- I have invited you all to the "MFAI co2023 Brush Share" library, check your email.
- Here is a link if you can not find the invitation.
- If for some reason your brush can not be added, you can put the brush file in the Google Drive folder.
