Assignment

Your prompt is 'Depth & Shadow' Use the techniques introduced & reinforced in class to create a two-frame/drawing/composition story for next week.

  • You will upload TWO photoshop files for class next week.
  • You are tasked to draw using traditional methods (paper, scan, prep, and color in Photoshop).

Your assignment is to draw at least 4 or 5 foreground items and at least 1 background drawing, then use multiple copies of the same items to create a story about 'Depth & Shadow' across 2 separate files.

Process

  • Draw no less than 5 separate parts/pieces which will be assembled into two compositions.
  • At least one part/piece should be a "background"
  • Scan and prep each part/piece for coloring digitally.
  • Bring all the parts/pieces that you wish to use into one file, compose a two-frame illustration.
  • Duplicate the file and modify the parts/pieces to create a 2nd Photoshop file that works in conjunction with the first panel to tell a story.
  • You don't have to use EVERY object in both files, but I expect that both files will share 80% of the assets.
  • You can scale, rotate, recolor, duplicate your parts/pieces, you can use any variation or Photoshop techniques you wish.

Upload for class next week

  1. Two LAYERED photoshop files.
  2. Origonal scan files.
  3. Compositions should be 5" x 5"
  4. I would suggest scanning at (at least) 1200 ppi, then working at 1200 ppi & coloring that.
  5. I have created a new Google Drive directory for this project: svaMFAI_20211011-homework-Depth-Shadow-2-frame
