Assignment

The goal of this assignment is to fast-track your awareness of a personal identity while establishing a brand system that you can use for your site and quickly create additional schwag.

i·den·ti·ty -

  1. The distinct personality of an individual regarded as a persisting entity; individuality.
  2. The set of behavioral or personal characteristics by which an individual is recognizable as a member of a group.

Today in the classroom we will be looking at and discussing identity systems. Your first assignment (due next week) will be to design and produce (print AND trim) three HIGH QUALITY post card designs.

  • Select 2 different illustrations for the front (this works best if you try and go for a range of styles).
  • Explore 3 different design variations (front & back) that work well with your work.
  • That's production on 6 postcard’s total, different means not the same! (Experiment with typography, color, and the treatment of everything).
  • Postcards have backs, each of your three design treatments should have a matching back. It’s up to you if the back of your postcard has additional art on the back or just typography.
  • Postcards cost more when you print full color on both sides (We will discuss the printing costs as we critique).
  • Use standard sizes, square postcards are more expensive to mail.
